Cancellation of British Standards Online

We regret to inform you that the library, for financial reasons, must cancel one of our online resources. Our subscription to British Standards Online (BSOL) will expire on Saturday 29th November 2014. Please note the T&Cs of cancellation, as outlined in section 6 of our licensing contract:

6.1           Upon expiration or termination of the Subscription Agreement for any reason, the Customer will:

6.1.1        Discontinue all use of the Documents and Services;

6.1.2        Destroy any items relating to Documents (including but not limited to data, software, and documentation) and purge any Documents data from all electronic media; and

6.1.3        Provide written notice to BSI certifying that the Customer has complied with this clause.

Please note all hard and soft copy standards procured up to now from the BSOL database must be removed, deleted and destroyed. We are continuing our subscription to BSI membership entitling members to a reduced rate on purchase of hard or soft copy standards from the BSI shop: http://shop.bsigroup.com/ please email us at library@gmit.ie for our membership number.

For Civil and Construction related standards, please note that our separate subscription to the Info4Education database gives access to 600 British Standards for those specific disciplines.

Please be aware that the Library does not make any product cancellation decisions lightly, we usually make decisions based on the coverage of a resource and its usage stats over a period of 1-2 years. All of our online resources incur significant expenditure, and their costs are rising each year. We would encourage all patrons to make use of our resources, and remember we provide training on same for any groups who wish to avail of this.
