Skills4Study Campus

This is an interactive e-learning resource for students which offers modules on four core study skills. These are writing; critical thinking; reading and note-making; referencing and understanding plagiarism. It is based on the teaching philosophy of Dr Stella Cottrell, bestselling author of The Study Skills Handbook. It is designed to help students study more effectively and achieve better grades in less time. It could also improve confidence and make the experience more enjoyable.

You can access the resource from within your course area in Moodle (ask your lecturer to make it available). If you do not have a link to Skills4Study Campus from any of your courses, you may enrol on LIB101 (Information Skills) and you will see the link on the right-hand side.

To get started, choose the most appealing module for you and take the diagnostic test. (Most students start with Reading and note-making.) This will identify which parts of the module are most useful to you. From there, simply explore the resource one page at a time. The activities are designed to appeal to a variety of learning styles, and include full audio at the top-left of the screen.
