GMIT Library and the Marine Institute Library reciprocal borrowing

GMIT Library and the Marine Institute Library have agreed a reciprocal borrowing arrangement.

The scheme will allow staff and students of both institutions to borrow from each others’ collections. Patrons can borrow two items and keep them for one week with the possibility of two renewals.

GMIT patrons wishing to access the Marine Institute library  should apply to GMIT library one day in advance to check opening times and confirm the visit.

The Marine Institute Library holds an extensive collection of scientific literature relating to marine and freshwater resources, including an archive of scientific reports, books and publications dating from the 1840s. This reciprocal arrangement is a further step in the process of co-operation and collaboration with other libraries in the region and is in line with institute policy. We already have reciprocal borrowing arrangements with NUIG, now in its second year, and with the libraries of the Connacht Ulster Alliance and Athlone Institute of Technology.
