Aiden Gillanders 1973 - 2009

Gone but not forgotten.

Library staff were shocked and deeply saddened when word came through last week that one of the lads downstairs, Aidan Gillanders, had died. The ‘lads downstairs’ are the technicians in the IT Centre who dig the library staff out of many a technical hole and do it with good humour and without complaint. They keep us upgraded and up to date. Aiden had been in the library frequently over the summer installing new staff pcs and he did the job, as usual, quietly and without fuss.

Our sympathies go to his colleagues in the IT Centre who worked most closely with him and especially to his wife, daughters, parents and wider family.

May he rest in peace.

  1. I had the pleasure of working with Aiden during his time with Lionbridge in Ballina. Of all the people I have worked with, Aiden always stood out as one of the most helpful, extremely knowledgable, friendly and genuine. It was great sorrow that I learned of his passing.
